March/April gradings

Bishops Stortford Taekwon-do had a busy Easter with 27 students attending their quarterly coloured belt grading in Harlow. All 27 passed with 10 of our new white belt students receiving A or plus passes.
This was followed 3 weeks later with 4 students travelling to Daventry for their black belt gradings. Elliott Yung age 9, Aedan Page age 12 and Kiara Georgieva age 14 tested for 1st Dan.

Jodie Roffey age 39 tested for 2nd Dan. Jodie achieved first Dan which was on her "things to do before 40” checklist 2 years ago.

To pass her 2nd Dan as well before 40 is a fantastic achievement.Later this year she will be taking her full Instructors and Umpire exams.

The students were put through their paces in front of the full TAGB {Taekwon-do Association Of Great Britain} committee of Taekwon-do Grand Masters on all aspects of Taekwon-do. This includes floor work, set sparring, competition style free sparring, patterns {forms}, Korean terminology and history. Dan gradings also include breaking boards and power tests with hands and feet. All 4 passed with flying colours.

Instructors comment: Colin Mowatt 5th Dan.
All trained for many years leading up to the grading, often training 3 or 4 times a week and fully deserved to be rewarded with their new belts.
Taekwon-do is one of the few martial arts suitable for all ages as shown by the wide age range of our students grading. Elliott just 9 years old is now the youngest of our 29 black belts who's ages range from 9 to 67.
All students in the photo attend classes alongside at least 2 other family members making Taekwon-do one of the few activities families can enjoy together.

The club trains at Parsonage Community hall Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and are currently offering free trial classes to new students and family discounts.
